About the 24th Annual International Conference on Soil, Sediments and Water...

Thank you for your interest in the Annual International Soils, Sediments and Water Conference Series at the University of Massachusetts. We are enthusiastic about this year’s conference. The Call for Papers and advertising in Science magazine and Soil and Groundwater Cleanup has already generated a large interest. At this point the program is being developed, exhibitors are being solicited, and funding identified. We welcome your participation.

Conference Statistics for the 23rd Annual Contaminated Soils and Water Conference…

The 23rd Annual International Contaminated Soils and Water Conference, October 15-18, 2007, was the strongest and most successful conference yet with 16 workshops, 141 platform presentations, 95 poster presentations, 48 exhibitors and over 830 attendees.

The conference attracted a wide variety of professionals from an extensive array of companies, agencies, and institutions. Geographically, attendees came from 39 states, Washington DC and Puerto Rico, as well as from Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Ghana, India, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Mexico, Netherlands, Nigeria, Pakistan, Romania, Russia, Sierra Leone, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Trinidad and United Kingdom.

Here’s a partial breakdown of the numbers:

  • 60 …State agency attendees from 11 states and 20 agencies
  • 47 …Federal/Military attendees from 15 states
  • 16 …Petro/Chemical, Transportation and Utility industry attendees from 7 states and 11 companies
  • 106 ...Academic attendees from 16 states and 15 countries representing 29 institutions
  • 228 …Consulting industry attendees from 29 states and 104 companies
  • 32 ...Laboratory Service attendees from 6 states and 11 companies

plus many attendees from related fields including engineering,  environmental labs, recycling, product manufacturers, turf services, petroleum storage, contractor, pharmaceuticals, the press, computer software and environmental test kits.
